An elegant pair of vintage drop earrings consisting of polished black onyx tops and long dropper’s bezel set with twinkling brilliant cut diamonds on top (approx. 0.05ct each) and a gleaming white cultured pearl at the bottom.
Onyx is a form of chalcedony, distinct for its jet-black colouring and white bands. Historically it was worn as a protective talisman that was said to bring courage in dark times and became increasingly popular in the Victorian era when black mourning attire was at the height of fashion.
The settings and butterfly studs are all 14ct yellow gold and clash beautifully against the black onyx. They’re a dark and mysterious pair and look stunning dangling from each ear.
